Where to park vehicle near Castaic Lake?

Planning on meeting a buddy at Castaic upper lake for a day of fishing.
Is there a parking spot where he can leave his car, then ride with me up to the lake and not get ticketed or towed?
Don't want to appear cheap. Just trying to save the $11 entry fee that he will have to dish out

Is the parking lot across the street from McDonalds cool?

You can probably park at any of the fast food places around there as long as they don't have signs that say you need to be a customer or something, haha.
