I just completed this 20+ hour project for my best friend Harvey for Christmas. The pics aren't the best but this thing is beautiful in bright sunlight. It is made of a blackish brown colored EXPENSIVE African wood called Wenge. This is a hard splintery wood that turns to black dust when milled. Good times in my garage shop! PLus, it is dry & splintery-Tore my hands up! Enjoy...

It's finished with a Turpentine/boiled linseed oil/spar varnish combo followed by multiple lacquer coats.

Greg, that is one beautiful piece of work! I'd have to build a frame for it and put it on the wall to display.

Just beautiful man! Couple of questions though... What did you treat the finished wood with so it will be "waterproof"? And what is that clear netting material? It being somewhat clear will not scare the fish away from the net like a dark color does.
