First fish at Gull Lake from shore

Guy next to me trying to help me land rainbow, it was about 4 pounds. He was caught deep part of water in maybe weeds, I had to go out there to try to pull him out.

Finally got it landed.

Setup at Twin Lake

Hook-up!

Native Brown Trout.

The catch. Brown had swallowed hook, unable to release as planned.

Finally got chased out of there by a big brown bear, he/she went after my cooler and we had to get out fast. I was baiting a nightcralwer when my buddy said bear. The bear was only 3 feet away from me. We booked slowly away, and a mountain rescue guys scared him/her away. The fish was in a basket in the water, but the bear was more interested in sweets, rootbeer and cookies and an apple.

I did not get any pictures of the bear, because my camera was in my backpack next to the bear.

AWESOME pics!!!! Thanks for sharing!

That pic that you labeled "Native Brown Trout" looks more like a BROOK trout to me.

All fish were caught on inflated night crawlers.

The guy I spoke to at Twin said there were rainbows and browns in Twin. Can anyone identify if trout is a brown or brook? I never seen either one before.

I'd say that's Mr. Brookie....

Enjoyed the pics an the low-down.

Bears and coolers make for good stories....many moons ago, girlfriend at the time and I were camping in upper Yosemite when, at about 2 in the morning she woke me up all excited saying there's was a bear in the camp next door.....

Well she was right as rain (just heard that today on the Andy Griffith show!).....and Mr. Bear was openin' a can of whup-*** on the cooler in the camp next to us, and I'd swear that, from the sound of it there was a 250 lb man hitting a plastic 100 quart cooler as hard as he could with a baseball bat....

That was enough for me....

Good job on the fish.
Too bad about Mr. Brookie swallowing the hook.
I'd be afraid of the bear wanting to eat me, if I was full of soda and, cookies, and candy!!!

Thanks for reporting.

Good job on your catch, nice pic's too. That trout is a brook trout, light markings on a dark background = char family. Dark markings on a light background = trout family. Nice job!

I concur with the others - that's a brookie. Looks like a great trip (except for those bears).

I'll talk to you this week at work to compare fishing notes. :)

I see you fish with Kencors, I do too but I will be stepping up to a ulta-light GLoomis rod the next time I'm up there. 8) Missed too many little "ticks" while jigging with the Kencor. I'm also considering a Shimano Stella but that would be a $750+ set up.
