Need trout fishing recommendation for Sacramento Area

I driving up from Bakersfield to Sacramento/Roseville area next week and I'm looking for a lake or trout pond to take grand kids (ages 4 and 9) fishing for their first time. Looking for recommendation where there is a higher probability for the kids to catch a fish or two. I did some checking and see that DFG will be planting Hagan Park pond the week of December 27th. Are there any decent private lakes you would recommend?
