Cruised up to Bishop Saturday night and checked into the Townhouse Motel. Woke up Sunday morning to find quite a bit of snow on the ground. I told my buddy that if he ran across the icy parking lot and snowy lawn and jumped into the pool with only his shorts on that I would give him $20. So at 8AM he did it and it was the best 20 dollars of entertainment.
We headed up to PVR and hiked down the road until we were about 1/4 mile past the ramp. We used lures, worms. and PB and stayed for about an hour with absolutely no action. The only action happening was the Charger game that was going to be on so we headed back to town to warm up and watched the game at the bar at the bowling alley next door.
Monday morning we decided to fish the wild trout area below the damn. We drove about 2 miles down the dirt road and found a nice section of the river with slow moving water and nice deep pools. After about 30 minutes of nothing the bite picked up. It got so good that the browns were either eating or bumping my lure on every cast. I actually stood in one place for 30 minutes and continued to get bit. I ended up catching and releasing 9 brown trout and got picked up and dropped another 1/2 dozen time.
All but one of the trout were caught on silver and gold small Kastmasters. I caught another one on a red and white rooster-tail. I also lost about 4 lures due to overcasting the river or letting it sink too long.
Overall, the weather held up great for us and we had another great time in Bishop.
