Mounting new trolling motor on bow

I am replacing the trolling motor on my used bass boat I recently purchased. It's a 1986 Cajun Espirit 18.5' bass/ski boat. Anyway, the trolling motor is the original Johnson trolling motor, and I'm replacing it with a MotorGuide. How do I seal it where it meets the deck? Pure silicone caulk?

you shouldn't have to seal it. i didn't. i did have some rubber spacers for it though.
