Can anyone suggest an effective pair of sunglasses that will help with sub-surface visibility that will not break the bank?

When it comes to UV protection for my eyes..... sometimes cheap isnt the way to go.
HOWEVER, I hear ya on the price of sunglasses...... some will certainly break your wallet.

I have a pair of Costa Del Mar 580 Permit's....., not inexpensive BUT,
incredible vision improvement in regards to seeing into the water in harsh sunlight.

Here's a link with some good information on sunglasses and how they can make you more effective..

I perfer the top shelf of shades now a days like Costa Del Mar, Oakley are two that I own.

You really do get what you pay for. I have learded that over the years.

If you want to go easy on the wallet then go to a wallmart and buy the Berkley ones they have there in the fishing / sporting goods section. They go for $ 18.00 They work and they will not break your bank. I have used these shades for years but perfer the higher end of shades now .

Good luck

I love Costa Del Mars. Their lenses prevent glare and UV as well as look pretty nice.

Actually, I do have a pair of brand new in box Permits for sale. Fame is just a bit big for my face.

I've been using Hoven Shades and they been holding up really well. Picked them up at Sport Chalet for $65.00 plus tax.

Thats exactly what you do . My older Brother did just that . Went to the eye Dr. and ordered the prescription lenses and had them polarized . It was not cheep. After words my Brother said he should of done that years ago.

Eye Surrender Eyewear makes polorized glasses that they sell at Last Chance Bait and tackle and Anglers Marine that are awesome and they are only $40.00. Easily the best deal on the market and the lenses are great!!
I recommend the Amber lense

I picked up a Costco (Kirkland) polarized sunglass. It came with 3 sets of changable lenses: clear, amber, and gray. Clear for nights. Amber for overcast/cloudy days. Gray for bright sunny days. It was either $30 or $40. It works pretty good.....
