View Full Version : Green shrimp aguachile zacatecas style

Well guys heres a lil mexican recipe Handed down from my family its a type of ceviche but better i hope you guys try this recipe trust me your gonna love it;) its the bomb.

STEP.1
Get about 5 pounds of medium to large shrimp make shure you devein them and cut them in a butterfly style.

STEP.2
Squezze about 20 limes into a cup(REMEBER THE LIME IS USED TO COOK THE SHRIMP SO YOU NEED PLENTY OF JUICE).

STEP.3
3 cucumbers chop them in round shapes

STEP.4
Chop up 1 red onion and as many jalapenos you think you could hang with i went with 7.

STEP.5
Put the choped up jalapenos into a blender and poure in the lime juice add a 1/4 clove of garlic and a lil pepper(NO SALT YET).

STEP.6
Add the onions to the shrimp and also the green salsa and mix it up.

STEP.7
Add the salt (as much as you like) mix again make sure the shrimp are completly submerged under the salsa and lime and cover it with foil paper put it into the refrigerator for about 5 to 6 hours for it to fully cook.

STEP.8 LAST STEP
After the shrimp has been cooking for 5 to 6 hours bring them out and add the last ingredient the cucumbers(THE REASON YOU ADD THE CUCUMBERS LAST IS SO THEY WONT GET SOGGY AND BE NICE AND CRISPY) Give it a last mix and walla you have made yourself aguachile zacatecas style:clapping: grab yourself your favorite tostada shells and your favorite mexican beer and its party time.

Add your favorite hot sauce that is if your man enough to add more chili i am;).

That looks good! I've never really tried cooking anything Mexican other than fajitas, but the recipe looks easy and your description of the prepwork is spot on.

That looks good! I've never really tried cooking anything Mexican other than fajitas, but the recipe looks easy and your description of the prepwork is spot on.

a sue this is a great lil snack,appetizer.(especialy with a beer)

The blending of the jalapenos caught me offguard, but it looks interesting. Usually "Zacatecas style" means a dish involving poblanos and heavy cream!

Will have to try your recipe out with some fish. Thanks!

the first time i had this i was visiting my family in zacatecas. lets just say it wasn't mentioned thats its flaming hot it was good, but hot as hell, thanks i just bought the stuff im gonna make it right now
