Day one of the Xmas tourney is in the books and what a day it was. The big fish parade to the scales was once again staggering. However, some of the fish where NOT in the tournament. A lot of the big fish where taken trolling or on artificals ie: powerworms and minijigs today from all the locales.
Taking big fish honors today was Toni Aquino of Tustin Ca. Toni is really new to fishing and started her tournament resume in a big way! Toni trolled her way to a 10.14 Rainbow while trolling the west shore with a firetiger Rapala.

Not far behing her was Luis Chavarria of Santa Ana with his 10.8 Rainbow taken while fishing a power worm on trout island. Nice fish Luis.

Now here comes the heart breakers not one but two 8.8 Rainbow where taken that where not in the tournament. One was taken by Bob Wertz of Yorba Linda while trolling a Brown Trout Rapala while in the flats.

The 2nd fish was taken by Enzia Goldschmied of Orange while fishing in the Lagoon with a nightcrawler. Enzia is pictured with her freinds who assisted her with the catch.

Without a doubt a great tourney. There are some beautys in the lake and the size for us was very good and putting up some fierce battles. Saw lots of hookups all day long by others as well.

Was great seeing you and the staff again Jimmy. Props on all the hard work. Get some sleep :Secret:

It was an awesome day. I saw the guy on Trout Island land his monster, it hit hard and was playing spool music , pretty cool. I landed a few pound halfers and then the wind picked up and wammm my float tube became a sail boat and the rest of us got pushed around and it turned into more of a work out then anything. The flats were blowing hard so i rolled out. Overall great time, congrats to all the winners, thanks to the staff as well for putting on a good show.

I knew there was a reason that I liked the Irvine Lake holiday gift program when I first heard about it. Last night I read the outside of the box. There is a very good reason why I still have an 8 track player in my garage. I'm Hi Tec illiterate. Looks like my wife just got another Christmas present.

Thank you to all the staff of Irvine lake, FNN, Team57, and my other fishing groups for another great year of fishing. Merry Christmas to all.

Thanks again Rooster for buying some of my Mammothmagic so I could pay my entry fee. But don't try using it at the vine I got my first skunk in over a year I didn't bring anything else because I never use anything else and I think mammothmagic being the same color of the water "brown" makes it a poor choice for the vine I think bright colors must work much better here. Thanks again

Way to go to all the winners!! Way to go Bruce for your generosity. Have a good holiday man! I hear those Blu Rays are nice.

Luis Chavarria in the Boston hat? I worked with him for a few years. Is he on this board? Does anyone know? Nice to see him out getting fish.
