A little background. I'm pming with Khanh (KPN) and I tell him I'm going to Phoenix from Thurs. through Sun. He wishes me a good trip and says he'll catch up on the duct DD while I'm gone. I have 4 so far this year and to give myself a little cushion with Khanh threatening while I'm gone, I just had to do a quick duct mission before leaving in a couple of hours.
I start out with fishing the structure and then the current break for nothing. I walk about a 1/4 mile to an open area and nail this fat beauty on a storm 4" swim shad. This guy was tough and I lost track of the number of runs it made. I just could not get him in for what seemed like forever. We are battling it in the pretty much no flowing water and I really tired it out because once I get it to the edge, it is perfectly still. No way I could drag this one up like I usually do so I have to make my way down to it with the gripper and I grip it and it flops and ungrips itself. Now I got it excited, me worried and I lip grip it again and success. I drag it up the cement with the gripper in hand. Landed. I scrape my knee in the concrete but worth the price. It measured out at 31" and 15 lbs. It was meaty, round and big bellied. Had what looked like a huge tail.
Khanh, thanks for keeping me on my toes. I was not even going to go out today. Go get yours while I'm gone!!!
I had one on yesterday too but it was hauling butt right towards me and I could not take up enough slack to get a good hookset. It got off and about 20 seconds after that I see a boil about 30 yards from me. I fan cast there but nothing.
