Congradulations, very well done David! I remember when you were ready to give up but I never had any doubt that if you stuck it out you would be well rewarded for your efforts. Finding halibut in the surf during winter can be tough but the halibut you do find in the surf during winter are often nicer fish. I will give you a call tomorrow.

Awesome! I'm stoked to see that you stuck such a nice fish man! Hope you stick a 30in soon! I'm still looking, but I couldn't catch a legal over 25 for the longest time. You got yours in 3months... so, you should get your 30 within the year! Congrats on sticking with the LC, and may many more halibut come your way.

Dang, you caught a 57in halibut! My biggest is only 28.5in... so you doubled it. Killer fish, any pics/report of the monster? Don't think a fish like that was pure luck. You've got some good surf fishing mojo. :Big Grin:

That's a beauty.......CONGRATS and a serious props on sticking her during these conditions. With water temps dropping, salad in the water and a decent swell it's been tough to find a workable bite but you found it. I personally have been out of the hunt for two weeks due to a back injury but your catch has me contemplating an assault for sunday. Just one more trip to the chriopractor tomorrow and hopefully I'm good to go!!

I tip my hat to ya :Applause:

Sometimes you have to just stick with it and magical things can happen. You paid your dues with that Wingnut LC in the wrist and Sensei JerryG taught you well....LOL

You deserved it for sure!!

It is good to see they are still holding tight even with the conditions.

Haha, that 57" was a joke, it was my friend's first halibut and we just got a bit too excited and kind of exaggerated the size by about 40-45 inches.

Yeah! JerryG actually lives pretty close to me so I normally see him every now and then. We fished a few times and it was really good.

If the temperature drops now, then what do people fish for in the winter from the surf? I mean, the water was so cold the other day that my feet hurt while fishing.

Maybe we can all fish together one day.

You can either wait til your feet and legs go numb...or you can get some waders :)

Yes, and thank you for the dozen LCs. So you're the SWAT leader? Is there a FWAT too?

Ya I'm guessing thats what they do, I just bought a 6.5 surf rod(i'm tall with long arms so its = to like a 8' lol), and a new vest so I can maximize comfort and usage of my tackle... All I need now are some lures and plastics that work for surf and Waders ^^
