just read a post from laguna lake and it brought back some good memories. thats the place where it all started my addiction, to fishing that is. my great grand dad took me there way back in 75 and gave me my first pole. dont remember catching anything. then we moved from so. fullerton to the north end in 1979 i was9. my parents let us kids ride to lake by ourselves in 82 and thats when it started. diggin up redworms and grubs on the bridle path to catch some gill and cats. day after summer day. as i got older started reading porn fish porn that is learned afew things. like crawdads and frogs for bass. then the game changed from gills and cats to the great largemouth bass. we would go to the golf course armed with whatever lunchmeat and catch dads. then at night we would catch frogs and toads. thats how i learned to fish for bass. there were some shady guys that hung out there drinkin smokin and even playing the guitar. they never bothered us and actually helped us out from time to time. one of their names was bob, budwieser bob to be exact. one day while fishing for gills i caught an fish i never seen before and bob asked if he could have it. i gave it to him and lent him my bucket and about half later he returns and gives me a dollar. then explains to me that the fish was an oscar and that he sold it fish store down on las palmas. another spring day was over there and met a guy that was using dads and was catching some other fish we'd never seen before. when we asked the guy what they were he tolded us they were crappie and if we were to catch them we should release them as well as the lmbs. we learned a lesson that spring day and would try and teach some others to do the same. fished there for many years with a group of friends some of which are addicted like my self. as for the mysterious giant turtle i saw i first hand. while cleanin up lookin for cans i heard bob say dam people throwin trash can lids in the water, at that time i look over and the thing bit him good. he and his buddies tried to catch the monster to no avil. that thing jacked his hand up pretty goodand that was the last i ever saw bob. rumor had it that he last a finger but truth was he got locked up. havent been back in 15 years maybe when i visit my lil brother in brea ill cruise back down memory lane. thanks for readin and keep up the post on my neighborhood hang out.
