Today was truly a great day at the lake. Customers where reporting wide opne syle fishing on various diffrent methods. The two most popular and productive by far have been anchoring up or fishing from shore with powerbait and trolling. The best colors by far on the powerbait have been the rainbow, chrt gulp doughs and the salmon peach powerbait. As for the lure draggers the best lures have been the Orange and Gold SC SHiner along with the Bubbelgum SC Shiner, we bought the last of these so come and get them! and Firetiger Rapalas. Watch for the nightcrawler bite to pick up with the recent rainfall as well.
Lost amongst the amazing trout fishing the catfish bite has been all but forgotten. However, a bass angler by the name of Adam Tromberello brought up a beautiful 16.04 Cat that I have not seen in a while. Adam was fishing back in the Flats with a pig and jig when the fish struck. Adam brought the fish up to the shop for identification thinking that they had hooked a blue or a channel cat. I had just arrived at the lake and got a glimpse of the fish and it was no Blue or Channel. The big cat was in fact a FLATHEAD CATFISH!! Just to clear up some confusion before it starts we have not stocked any Flatheads to my knowledge ever. I believe this fish actually came in with one of our water delieverys through the pipeline. A true rare catch indeed!! And to make things even better the fish was released afterwards to grow bigger inside the lake!

Kevin Slape of Upland managed the biggest fish today at the lake while trolling nonother than a Pink Mirrashad along the dam. Kevin's fish weighed in at 10.6!

Bobbi Hotinger of Orange also cracked the lunker code with this 8.0 Rainbow. Bobbi was trolling a CD 05 Rapala along the West Shore when the big bow bit!

Our very own Tim "Newport Crusher" Healy of Newport Beach also got in on the action with a beautiful German Brown Trout. Tim was fishing in Woodys Cove with a Pink Thomas Bouyant when the 4.0 Brown bit. Nice catch Tim!

Im not surprised, honestly, i always had a feeling there were a few flatheads around there.

Nobody catches them because they dont really strike cut/dead bait.

Awesome that the guy released it.

There's plenty of food in there for flat heads to thrive without being a problem. Flat heads in a So Cal lake, that's awesome !

Nice variety pack of fish, flatheads to browns...AWESOME!!!!

WTG on the brown Timster, after this early season clinic you've put on, I will always refer to that bubble gum lure as the "Timmy Bouyant"

So Jimmy is the water cold enough to start stepping it up and increasing the average size fish yet :???:
