Got tired of catching catfish so my girl and I decided to head up to the sierras to fish for some TROUT!
Getting set up for the kill. SP4HV Kencor, IA10 Okuma reel, two pound test. http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/IMG_01.JPG

First cast out... and bendo!
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/IMG_02.JPG

Mr. Brown couldn't resist, what a fight these guys put up!
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/IMG_03.JPG

Hooked up again.

First days limit within an hour and a half.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/IMG_04.JPG

A better display of the catch.

It was hot there so I decided to take a plunge in one of the springs to cool off. This was awesome, about 6 feet deep and crystal clear water.

The sunsets were awesome, but the mosquitoes were thick as the sun went down.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/IMG_09.JPG

The second day I thought I'd wear my Team 57 shirt.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/IMG_0137.JPG

Limited again in under two hours.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/IMG_0169.JPG

My girlfriend hooked up a few, shes got fishing fever now.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/IMG_0161.JPG

The third day was great too, hooked up on Mr. Brown again.

Troutoholic , I did not read what you and the Ms. were catching them trout on. You mind giving up what was working for you both up there ?

Some of those trout look kind of fat. Been eating good. :D

You use Salmon eggs? They always work for me up there.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Ok, I'll give up my secret bait... half a crawler on a #12 mosquito hook, 1/4 oz egg sinker, rigged Carolina style with a Carolina keeper about a foot from the hook. Not no secret at all, most fishes love a thick worm.

Thanks for the details...just curious was the 1/4oz keeping you on the bottom or were you doing some drifting based on the current? Congrats to you and the little lady.

What I did was cast up river a bit and let it drift until the line was tight. Then I fed the line by hand until I thought it was by the spot I wanted it to be near. It worked out pretty good as you can let the current take your bait into the eddies that you want to fish naturally. You must watch your line though, as it may get hung up on tree branches or other obstacles that line the side of the river.
