What kind of swimbaits are you planning on tossing? The reason I ask is that the reel you use for a 10in Triple Trout or Born Again Armageddon is very different than the reel you would use for a 3in Big Hammer and 1/4oz lead head. They are all technically swimbaits, but they require very different set ups to use.

Basic info is that you want a 300 size reel at least if you're tossing anything bigger than paddletails, like a Curado 300E or Cardiff 300. Those will handle everything except the biggest baits and 30lb line. For that, go with a 400 size reel. The Daiwa Luna 253 is comparable to a 300 size Shimano reel, and a Luna 300 is like a Calcutta 400. Definitely stay away from Quantam. Abus are all right, but a Cardiff is the way to go for a budget swimbait reel.
