Another Good Day @ Castaic Lake 11/17/09

Hopped in a boat with my buddy. We fished all day and managed to catch 13 decent size STRIPERS. All were caught off on Sardines except the big one was caught off on Rat-L-Trap. :Secret: :LOL: Well, good luck to you all...

Did you use cut or whole sardines? What size hooks and line used?

Did you toss them into the boils or were they even busting the tops?

Can already taste them steamed, fried and baked....yummo....

I used cut sardines with 2/0 MOSQITO HOOK and 12lb test PLine X-Tra Strong.

The rest of them just bait and wait @ west ramp and the other big one was caught while I was playing with the Rat-L-Trap early in the morning @ old launch ramp. I just got lucky... :LOL:

I let my wife make sour soup for the small one and the big one for BBQ. It sure does taste yummy... :LOL:

On the cut sardines, do you use the fresh dead stuff or frozen? I find sometimes the frozen stuff has a tendency to get too mushy.

I use the frozen one from 99 Ranch Market (http://www.google.com/search?q=99+ranch+market&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGLH). I wish I have time to go get the fresh dead stuff.
