Get an Okuma Celilo, nice looking great performing trout rod for around 30 bucks. I have the 7' model, and it is a great little rod.

For the price and durability you can't go wrong with the Ugly Stiks .

You should build a mudhole MHX blank. I just static'ed one out this morning and it feels great. They're supposed to be designed to replace the IMX series of blanks. Fairly cheap. The blank is $40.

MHX S841. Micro fuji alconites and an 12 1/2 tennessee handle. Matching with it with Symetry 500. ;)

Thanks guys, but I don't like glass rods. I like the Spinmatics because they have a more solid, crisp feel.

To TDG, I was thinking of wrapping an MHX, but I am pretty sure that shipping is like $20, so at that price, I'd rather buy a Rainshadow from C&M. Hmmm...so tennessee huh? Should be light and sensitive. How do you like the blanks? Are they a true fast action UL? Do you turn your own grips?

Like I said, I'm not looking to spend too much cause they're just trout.

Still Looking.

The blank is straight and clean. It's definitely is a fast action blank. Great tip speed and a very snappy sound when you cast it. Even though it's rated for >1/32oz, with the micros it casts 1/64oz trout magnets fairly well.

The handle i took an preformed 10" tennessee handle and split it where i wanted the reel to sit and added three rubberized cork rings and two grade A rings. Glued it, clamped it together and sanded it down on my pac bay wrapper the next day. No split rings. They're a bit bulky. The reel is going to be taped on with RodWrap.

I wish it were mine. I'm actually building it for my brother. I might have to sneak it out and catch some fish on it before he takes delivery on it. He also has a MB843 sitting in the corner waiting to be wrapped.

Shipping is definitely a bit much from mudhole, they also charge you an extra 10 bucks for oversized items. I'll let you know if I order any blanks from them again.
