The original plans for Maddie and I were to use up some MLPA fundraiser tickets we won and go 3/4 day island fishing the Coronados, but the indicators I look for in those trips told me I should just wait for a better day.
Instead, we linked up at "Da Vine" with good ol' Dr. Hook and MagicMan Mitz.
Got to the lake at a leisurely 9ish in the a.m., and met the guys at Trout Island. Wow was it packed!
Rather than combat fish, we all opted to take a pontoon out to the West Shore and find a little breathing space for ourselves. It was a great idea that paid off.

Maddie was in great hands as the "Ambassadors of Da Vine", Mister Hook and Mitzy were having a great time putting Maddie on fish. I can tell Maddie had a great time. (Thanks a ton guys).

The usual bait stuff was working pretty good, nothing "wide open", but a steady little bite. I caught and farmed a few today on hardware and found the froggy pattern rooster and brassy w/red spoons were the ticket. Nice and slow retrieve, and 50 to 1 casts was the ticket.

Got back to the picnic area and chatted it up with Jimmy (sweet looking 52lb albie!) and Catchthatrout (I dig your new wheels!), over a bowl of Bambi chili, courtesy of Dr. Hook.
It was another good day at Da Vine.
This last pic is for you Art. Whenever you're ready, I'll model your Z71 too in return for some more venison chili!
