Hello,

I decided to hit up the harbor with a buddy of mine. The weather was perfect, high 60's / low 70's. We caught tons of macks, and a few smaller rays, on sardines (8lb line).

I wanted to try for a shark, so I rigged up a reel with 40lb (and a short wire) and tossed out a mack. After about 30 minutes I got a solid hit. I fought this beast for at least 20 - 25 minutes. (Got stuck around the anchor, rocks, etc).

Well instead of being a shark, it was a decent size ray. Took some pictures and let it go.

I am not really sure about a weight estimate. Any suggestions?

Thanks for reading

Is there Red Tide out at the wall? The Harbor was pretty much covered with it on Sunday.

Yeah....there was still some remnants of red tide. Wasn't that bad by the bait receivers though.

Thanks for the report and the pics. I really need to get my boat out more, but gas is beating me up right now since IRS is raping me right now...
Good luck on your next venture.
