Cool pics! Hey are you hand feeding that Bat Ray? Don't they have "crusher teeth" for eating clams? I recently rescued a 'possum that found it's way into my boss's office. Everybody was scared to get near it. It was no big deal. Do you know that Opossums do not get rabies..

Everybody was scared to get near it. It was no big deal. Do you know that Opossums do not get rabies..ACTUALLY, that's not true. Their low body temp DOES, however, limit the virus. Opossum body temp varies between individuals, much like humans.

Some are warm enough to support rabies, most arent.


This is true with most marsupials. they are like proto-mammals, and still retain a few reptile-like characteristics.

Even birds, provided they survive the encounter with a rabid animal (which they often dont) , can be infected! I believe there was a case of a parrot being infected with rabies in a lab somewhere...

That's interesting to know. If you don't mind me asking, do you work with animals for a living or is it just kind of an interest. As far as I'm concerned, the animal world is simply awesome!

I did work at a few wildlife rehab centers as a volunteer (lol as if there were any other way)

And ive done a little bit of wilderness repair.

No, I'm actually putting my hand up into it's mouth gettingready to pick that motha up...it's about a 60-65 lbder...and guess where I'm at......SEAWORLD !

Ha ha ha ha ha...aha...Guess I'm lucky they didnt see but I picked 'em up about 2' outa the water b4 I released em,..
And yes...they have huge cruncherjaws but I've never had one bear down, thats the way I hold 'em when I catch them, they won't hurt you !

If your not cool w that, you can always grab into the nostrils but be prepared to get slimed in a way you wont care for...

As for the possum.....I was actually saving it's life, it had been caught up in a trash can at my work and I saw it while on break so I went in and grabbed a broom and gloves, caught 'em and released em into the brush nearby

Awe man! You don't need to wear gloves to catch and hold a 'possum! I saved a baby trying to cross the street a few weeks back while on a ride. He was soooo cute! Nice pics, love the SD Gophers and Cali King too!

I'm weird like you are! Most people like to have cats and dogs....I have a big lizard, a turtle and a praying mantis....we do also have a rabbit and I gotta say that rabbits are awesome pets! So affectionate!

Looks like "Bernie" needs a few more beers...
