Checking out the view from the top of the Empire State building was pretty cool..."touristy", but well worth the trip for the experience. Have a great time.

Take the 3 hour drive to Montauk, and fire off some plugs in the ocean and pray Mr. Striper wants to dance,

or,

once again, you can play tourist.

dont miss this place for pizza
http://local.yahoo.com/info-11103162-famous-original-ray-s-pizza-new-york

if you like mozzarella cheese n.y. is the place to get it at. very soft and mmmmmmm....delicious. definatly go to the statue of liberty, and elis island too. lots of history there. if you got a car go check out brooklyn and little italy area. be sure to double park and cuss at a few locals when they tell you to get moving.. I had a blast both times i was there in n.y. to bad you won't get time to drive a couple hours north to the catskills. (where jimmy carter used to fish)
i would probably go to ground zero just to pay m respects while i was there too. Also if the weather is nice a simple free thing to do is to walk across the brooklyn bridge. you won't ever forget it. http://brooklyn.about.com/od/historicbrooklyn/ht/walkbbridge.htm
MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR ME WHEN I AM THERE IS TO EAT PIZZA AT LEAST TWICE A DAY

Home of the $20 sandwich.

Sandwiches are a'ight, but not worth $20.00.

LOTS of alternatives, especially in the Lower East Side.

3 days, eh? 1st time?

Well, you're staying in a good spot. GF used to work in one of the hotels down near the South Street Seaport.

I'd take some good walkin shoes. Unlike LA, NY is a walking town. You're extremely close to Battery Park, which is where all the ferry's to The Statue depart from on the Manhattan side. After doing The Statue and Ellis Island, take a tour of downtown and visit the Financial District (Wall St, etc) and visit Trinity Church which is near there. Visit where the towers once stood. Kinda surreal.

Pizza. Eat lots of it. You're gonna realize LA has very few good pizza joints. Recommendation? Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge. Nuff said. Lombardi's in Little Italy has some good stuff. While you're there, visit Little Italy. Have a bite to eat at the countless restaurants there. Then you can visit Chinatown. If your girl is into shopping, she's gonna love it there.

Make sure to hit up Central Park. Start up in the Upper West Side and check out the amazing buildings. Stroll through the park and check out the Met if you're into artsy stuff. Check out 5th Avenue in Midtown. You can even make you're way to the Empire State Building from here. Times Square at night. Mind the pissed off New Yorkers that are trying to get to and from work and hate tourists stopping and taking pictures; I'd get sick and tired of it too.

Don't forget:

• Take the train everywhere. Cars are useless.

• Eat up! Even the street vendors have some good food.

I think that'll give you enough to do in 3 days. If you wanna check out the other Boroughs, feel free. I just think that 3 days should be spent in Manhattan, unless you wanna visit Jamaica Queens and tour where 50 Cent grew up.

Have fun!
