Good to be back home! LBC 11/1

Having to take some time off fishing the salt to work in Vegas, I finally got back! First place to try out? The surf of course..
Got to the spot around 6:30 left at 11:00.
I didn't really pay a whole lot of attention on the conditions, maybe because i was to eager to try out some new gear i picked up. but from what i remember surf was calm and water wasn't too clear.

Before i get to the pics, i got to talk a little about a close call i had.
On my second catch i hooked up on the first hali, but when i brought him inshore and laid down my measuring tape, seamed i didn't bring him in far enough!!
So you guessed it! the tide came way up and move the Hali against my foot.
Now i had two trebles stuck on top of my foot!:Angry::Angry:
GREAAAAAT!!! At this point i got my cell phone in one hand, a measuring tape that washed away, and a 16 inch halibut and two trebles stuck on my foot!!
I had to think fast! Afraid that the Hali would flop around, quickly i stuck the cell phone in my pocket, then really carefully one at a time i pulled the barbs out. luckily they weren't to buried.. Then of course proceeded to release the Hali.
This could of been alot worse! i really got lucky that the Hali was calm.

Needless to say i didn't have my measuring tape after that, so you'll have to use my ugly size 13 foot to gage..
And on the big halibut you guys tell me whether it was legal or not?
Total count was
6 halibut (1 maybe legal)
1 bonito
2 large smelt

Amazing how many halibut there are right now. I was pumping shrimp Sunday and came across 5 or 6 no bigger than a playing card. Good job!

In the last few years I have seen 3 used syringes on the shores of Long Beach, not sure bootys will help, but please keep that in mind out there guys.
