I was thinking "catfish 17" was just a kid, but having forgotten about those previous posts I am thinking 87 and a touch of senility

Enjoy your day on the water catfish 17!

when you cast it, do you have to let your bait go all the way on the bottom or what?

with bait you cast it out. let it sit there and wait. aka "bait n wait"

but with plastics and other artificials. you jig em. let them fall to the targetted area and then work them. to find that area you have to fish around till you find the right spot.

The best spot is where ever it isn't packed..trust me and use powerbait rainbow/ garlic mixed on your bait and wait rod...use a yellow jig with a red powerbait WORM tail...trust and report your findings bro goodtimes...................

when you cast it, do you have to let your bait go all the way on the bottom or what?

ok heres how to setup

1. Tie a swivel onto your main line.( using a swivel will make it easy to change leaders quickly)

2. tie a leader about 12-16 inches onto that swivel ( try different leader lengths)

3. tie on a treble hook (not to big)

4. Put a small split shot above the swivel

5. Power bait

the power bait will float by itself off the bottom, your leader length will determine how far off the bottom u wanna fish. Like I said try different lenghs until u find out where there at a few inches could make or brake your day. rebait/recast about every 10-15 mins
