get you a license, gauge, some nets,a kayake or lil boat.catch you some fresh macs,or sardines, cheap catfood, glow sticks, buoys.and get out there and try your luck,im also new to the lobster scene.caught a couple on my first two attempts but it was fun all in all.just becarefull you will pull up some nasty lil critters from the bottom.get you some rubber gloves.and take a partner ,make sure he has license ,report card ,and gauge.good luck.

You can hoop from a pier. You are limited to a max of 2 net. report card and gauge is still required, but license is not required IF you are hooping from a public pier.
