Well friday the 29th im thinking the date was,I went out to Marina Del rey to own some halibut.I was warned about whats out there off of this pier.I was told to bring some strong test line out there for this battle withthis unknown fish.I tossed out 2 poles with one pole with 6 hooks with all chovies,and the other pole double drop shot all with chovies.I'm telling you within 15 minutes,bam ! Bend0,my pole is dam near in the ocean ! :shock: This dayum fish bit, ran,and almost took all my line off of my reel! :shock: I started getting nervous cuss I was not expecting this to happen to me.Most of my line going out and I finally tighen up my drag and snap ! There goes my line. Five times later,the same *****! :evil:
Can anyone tell me what kinda fish this might be taking lines like that? Huge halibut,big sting ray,lep shark? I'm so pissed,i'm getting my crew ready soon to go out and slay with me,for revenge ! What test line should I use? I had 10lb and 12 lbs at the time.I mostly fish fresh waters,but after the way my fishing pole got raped,I think I might say the hell with frsh water fishing ! Saltwater has way more action ! :twisted: :twisted:

You hooked a ray there are alot in MDR area

I vote for a bat ray. Not to be confused with a battery which can also be found off our coast. A bat ray will take the line out of the spool whereas the battery remains stationary. Either way, u might as well say goodby 2 ur terminal tackle.

hey hits i have 2 strong trolling rigs you could probly bring them in on. one has 25 and one has 30lb

hehhehheh, good luck. My line of choice for the rays is 80# spiderline.

One_Leg uses 3# leaders for all his catches. Bat Rays are very line shy!!!!

Well the only thing this fish was biting on was salted anchovies.No squid,no worms,no jigs.I cought 2 legal hailbuts,they both were 31 inches exactly,I think I cought twins !
