View Full Version : Monster Bluegills Caught From Lake Skinner 10/18/09

Went to Lake Skinner with a buddy of mind and his wife today. We start fishing from dawn to dusk hoping to catch a lot of stripers and bluegills. As soon as I got down to the lake, I start throwing Topwater Lure and Rat-L-Trap. All I caught was only baby LMB, no stripers for me, but my buddy caught 3 on Lucky Craft Sammy 115. I caught nothing but baby LMB all afternoon so I decided to eat lunch and took a few hours nap. Woke up then start throwing mealworms with dropshots setup and luckily I've caught myself a Channel Catfish. After an hour later before sunset, we start catching bluegills left and right however though we lost a lot of them too.

I use to fish that cove all the time with my son for gills, the only thing is that you have to move around alots. I'm just waiting until early next year to fish at DVL for the gills, you can catch them in the 100's

I gotta join you when that day come, BG... :LOL: They're really fun to catch than any other fish especially when you use only 2lb test line. You know what I mean...:LOL:

All the times I have gone to Skinner ( Not that many ) I only catch same size bass. Nice CATFISH & Bluegill

That picture at dawn tells the whole story....just to be on the water and see a horizon like that......priceless....the fish are always a plus...good to see the bluegil are still biting

There's ton of those small bass @ Skinner that you could catch them all day long but they're kinda annoying though. I'd rather go after the big gills instead cuz they're fun to catch.
