SAT TWO OF MY OLDEST AND DEAREST FRIENDS FROM THE FNN AND TEAM 57 SHOWED UP TO FISH WITH ME ,THE THREE OF US HAVE NOT FISHED ALL TOGETHER IN A LONG TIME. EVERYTHING STARTED WAITING IN THE LINE WAITING TO GET IN MET T/B AND CUTBAIT IN LINE ALONG WITH ALOT OF OTHERS,EVERYBODY HUSTLING GEAR AND TACKLE FOR DAYS BIG FISHING EVENT FOR THE STRIPER KILLERS OUT THERE.GOT THE BOAT 90 PERCENT SET THEN IT WAS TIME TO GO IN.I LAUNCHED THE BOAT AND TIED TO THE DOCK, RIGHT WHEN I REALISED I FORGOT TILL PUT THE PROPS AND THE PRESENTS IN THE BOAT FOR TROLLYS KING OF THE CATFISH CORONATION CEREMONY I WAS GOINT TO DO ON THE DOCK WHEN WALKED DOWN TO THE BOAT,THE LIFE GAURD WAS TELLING ME TO HURRY CAUSE THE HAD TO PULL THE DOCKS OUT BECAUSE OF THE DUMPIMG MORE WATER INTO THE LAKE. I HAULED BUTT AND PARKED THE TRUCK RIGHT THEN MY GOOD FRIEND KENNY FROM THE BOAT RENTALS SHOWED UP HE LOADED SOME OF THE STUFF IN HIS GOLFCART THEY USE TO GO UP AND DOWN THE RAMP,WHILE WALKING AWAY FROM THE TRUCK I FORGOT MORE STUFF FOR THE BOAT , MAN I WAS A MESS AND I WAS WORRING ABOUT TROLLY AND PONTOON ARRIVING TOO SOON ,SO I GOT BACK DOWN THE RAMP GOT THE STUFF KENNY DIDNT CARRY TO THE BOAT FOR ACTING LIKE A SMUGGLER THE WHOLE TIME I FINALLY GOT ON THE BOAT AND GOT AWAY FROM THE DOCK AND STARTED HIDING TROLLYS PRESNTS UNDER MY JACKET UNDER THE CONSOL AND GETTING THE PROPS IN ORDER FOR WHEN I WAS GOING TO RETIE TO ONE OF THE DOCKS, I STILL WASNT READY AT TROLLY AND TERRY WERE LOADIGN STUFF ON THE DOCK AS I HOVERED AMONGEST THE MASSIVE BOAT TRAFFIC TRYING TO GET OUT AND FISH, RIGHT WHEN I WAS GETTING READY TO DOCK A GUY WALKED UP THE DOCK AND ASKED FOR HELP WITH HIS BOAT I TOLD HIM I WASNT A MECHANIC BUT CHRIS WAS IT WAS PERFECT I SENT TROLLY TO HELP THE WHILE I TIED UP SET THE PROPS AND GOT TERRY I THE RIGHT SPOT FOR CHRIS CAME BACK DOWN THE DOCK. THE CEREMONY CAME OFF SO GREAT TROLLY WAS TOTALLY SURPRISED HIM TERRY AND MYSELF WERE LAUGHING LIKE MANIACS, THE KING KNIGHTED ME WITH THE NET AND EVERYTHING HE MADE HE FISHING DECREE FOR THE DAY AND WE TOOK OFF THE LIFE GUARDS WERE BLOWN AWAY THE HAD NEVER LAUGHT SO HARD AT WORK BEFORE.THEN THE FISHING STARTED, WE WORKED ARE WAY DOWN THE FISH ARM TILL WE GOT ARE FIRST ACTION , WE HAD TWO DIFFERENT COLORS ON THE GOT US A FAST 4 OR 5 FISH THEN THE SPOT COOLED, SO WE MOVED ON TROLLY WAS WEARING HIS CATFISH BURGER KING CROWN FEEL THE STEEL HAD BROUGHT ME ,EVERYTIME HE PUT ON THE CROWN WE GOT ACTION,AND DIFFERENT BOATERS WHO SAW WHAT HE WAS WEARING WERE LAUGHING ALL DAY LONG, WE PICKE AT FISH ON UP THE FISH ARM TILL WE APPROACHED THE OLD SS COVE ALL THE TIME TERRY WAS ASKING ABOUT THE BOILS AND AS WE ALL THREE GOT STUFF READY FOR THE BOILING ACTION IF WE RAN INTO IT AND SURE ENOUGH WE DID . WE SPENT NEARLY TWO HORS MOVING AROUND THIS COVE WITH THE BASS AND STRIPER BOILS THE WHOLE TIME CHASING A GIANT SCHOOL OF SHAD AROUND THE COVE. THE SHAD WERE FLYING OUT OF THE WATER EVERYTIME THEY WOULD CORNER THEM .TERRY GOT HIS FIRST BIG FISH ON A FORTY YEAR OLD ZARA SPOOK TROLLY PULLED OUT OF AN ANTIQUE TACKLE BOX FULL OF COOL OLD LURES, TERRY MASHE MR STRIPEYS ATTEMPS TO ESCAPE QUICKLY. AFTER ALOT OF CASTING AND MOVING AROUND TERRY THEN GOT HOOKED UP A KPN PLUG I HANDED HIM, TERRY STRUCK DEATH TO HIS SECOND VICTIM OF BOILKILLERS, IT WAS HIS BIGFISH OF THE DAY, WE STAYED ANOTHER HOUR WITH THE BOILS POPPNG UP AND DOWN TILL IT GOT QUITE,THEN WE MOVE ON. WE WORKED ARE WAY AROUND THE LAKE KILLING MR STRIPEY ALONG THE WAY WE HAD A HOT SPOT WE WORKED FOR ALOT OF FISH THEN WE WENT BACK LATER FOR THE ICEING ON THE CAKE AT THE END OF THE DAY. WE SAW FNN STRIPER KILLERS FISHING EVERYWHERE, IT WAS A DAY OF GREAT STRIPER AND LAUGHTER, I TOLD THE BOYS IT WAS LIKE WE WERE THE THREE STOOGES OUT ON A FISHING TRIP. AFTER THE FISHING THE FISHING WAS DONE THEN IT WAS TIME FOR THE RAFFLE AND ALL THE FUN THE RAFFLE WAS A GREAT HIT, THANKS TO EVERYONE BGRINGING GREAT GIFTS FOR THE RAFFLE I LOVE WHEN THE MOJAVE RIVER ANGLERS SON GOT HIS TURN HE PICKED A ROD AND REEL IT WAS GREAT AND THE CROWD ERUPTED WITH APPLAUSE AND HOOPING AND HOLERING IT WAS REALLY COOL,MOST ALL HAD FUN DOING THE QUICK LOOK OVER OF THE PRIZES BEFORE THE COUNT DOWNS ON PEOPLES TIME WAS WILD AND ROWDY IT WAS A GREAT BLAST. IT WAS GREAT BEING IN A CROWD OF TOTALLY HARDCORE FISHING PEOPLE WHO HAD FISHED ALL DAY THEN ENJOYED THE FUN AT THE RAFFLE AND FEEL THE STEELS FISHING SONGS CONCERT, THANK EVERYONE FOR ALL THE GREAT VIBES FOR DAY OF FISHING AND FUN AFTERWARDS. I’m going to dedicate my report to My Good Friend Bob “Trout Only” Caffey, or no wait a minute, Sir Bob “Trout Only” Caffey now that he has been Knighted by Chris “Trollmiester” Hagopian, King of the Cats 2009.
I met Bob a few years ago when the DVL trout trolling was at it’s best. Bob invited me along on a trip with him and we hit it off. I was amazed at how much he knew about fishing for trout and went to school on his trolling techniques. After that first trip Bob invited me on several more where we experimented with different lures, depths and colors to get the trout. Bob and I were together one afternoon on a tough bite trying to figure out just exactly what it was the trout wanted and I showed him a couple of lures a guy on the board named Peestick made and sent me in the mail. Bob took one look at them and said to me they looked just like the shad the trout had been chasing. We tied them on and it was on! It turned out to be a pretty productive day. Another trip with Bob that I will never forget was a day at DVL trolling that turned into one of the windiest and roughest days on the water. Bob had some new trick up his sleeve and wanted to show me what he had come up with. We did pretty well with what he was running but the weather just got worse and worse. Toward the end of the day when all of the other boats ran for cover Bob looked at me and asked if I thought we should leave? I looked at Bob and told him I really didn’t want to go because the fishing seemed to be picking up. Bob just got this grin on his face and said let’s do it and we let the gear out for more trolling. That day is one that I will always remember. As the day wore on and the water got rougher the fish just kept getting bigger. We fished until we had to make a run for the dock to avoid getting a ticket but, it was not before Bob Brought in the biggest fish of the day.
Bob, I just want to say Thanks again for all the hospitality you showed Trolly and I yesterday. I don’t think there was ever a moment we weren’t laughing about something or reminiscing about past fishing trips and you hardly ever picked up a rod allowing Trolly and I to fish like mad all day. Once again you amazed me with your knowledge of the stripers and thanks for the instructions while we were fishing the boils. That was awesome My Friend! There was no better way I could have ever spent fishing than to spend it with two good Fishing Buds.
All I can say to anyone on this board is if you are looking to fish with someone who will teach you the ropes on fishing for trout or striper you’ve got to make it a point to set up a guide trip with Trout Only Guide Service.


Before I get into the pictures from the tournament I just want to say thanks to “Feel the Steel” and “Hiro” for organizing a very successful and fun striper fishing event. Once again the camaraderie was awesome. I had the pleasure to meet new FNN/Team 57 members as well as some “hard core” striper fishermen and women who braved what turned out to be some tough fishing and a very hot day on the water.
Also, once again, there were some really awesome raffle prizes given away. Thank you to all who donated the prizes.
Gary, it was an honor to take home the big fish trophy. It has been proudly displayed in our living room by my wife who was very excited about my bringing it home. Almost as excited as I was to receive it! We got another one for Team 57!
I guess I’m going to have to bring my striper fishing game up another notch if I want to keep it because I saw the fire in the eyes of the “Bako boys”. They look like they are going to be out for blood at the next one.

The day just couldn’t start on the right foot without Trolly doing a good deed so he went to the rescue of one of the participants and helped get his boat running….

I knew immediately that Sir Bob was hiding something when I walked up to the dock and after Trolly took off to help another boater Sir Bob showed me what he had up his sleeve….He had a red carpet and a Burger king paper crown (Compliments of Feel the Steel) to present to the King as he boarded the Salmenoid Phenomenon. I do have to say this was just hilarious. You’ll notice in the background the Lifeguard walking away in disbelief of what was transpiring before his very eyes. You will also notice it didn’t take Trolly long to play the part to the hilt. I knew right away my place as netboy and camera boy would remain the same throughout the day as Trout Only was the only one worthy of Knighthood. Little did The King know I would strike a blow to his kingdom and regain my half of the Team TrollToon realm.

Shortly after the ceremony at the dock Sir Bob gave King Trolly a slap and told him he was Captain of the Salmenoid Phenom and we were all back to being the Good Friends that we are. Sir Bob you shouls have slapped him twice, one for me.

Not too long after Sir Bob set the gear into motion we were into the schoolies….Trolly took the first rotation. I wondered why he got to take the first fish so, he reminded me …..He was the King.

Not to long into our first trolling session Sir Bob made the order to roll ‘em up and headed toward our first of many boiling fish. Once we rolled up on the boil Sir Bob put on a short clinic as how to fish them. I paid attention to Sir Bobs tutoring but you will see that the King, ahem, found it more important to contact someone back at the Catfish Castle.

Here’s a shot of King Trolly rummaging through Sir Bobs boat after the tournament. I asked the King what he was looking for and he told me he was going to seize control of the KPN lure that got the big fish. Notice the look of disappointment on his face when I told him that Sir Bob had already made a gift of it to me. All I heard after that was something along the lines of banishment from his empire but didn’t quite get it all.

Great report. Kept our eyes out for ya and saw you guys HOOKED UP all DAY! Everytime we saw you troll by you guys clowned us by snatching one from under us. What was funny was everyone we talked to kept asking "you see TO?"

I just got back home from the trip.

Had a blast fishing with everyone and a huge thanks to cow patty for taking me out and putting us all on some fish.

I'm so beat down and tried i'll have to finish this at a different time.

The hardest of the hardcore the few and proud and the brave we were up till 3am sitting by the camp fire and just having a blast just to turn around and hope for some early morning boils on the west ramp but we were all just too beat down after the toury to fish hard any more hahahaa.




Good times to be had by all. If you missed this event then you really missed out.

P.S. Gary you are da man, thanks again for putting this event together so well. I would have to say this one mos def trumps are last two, and everytime we do this is gets bigger and better. Lets hope it keep growing. Remember folks striper bowl is just around the corner

it was one of the best best events i have attended
i just wish more people would have camped out for the night.
fishing was good for the those that could find the schools witch majority of the participants did...

Was nice to see some old faces , and it was great to meet new ones it's good to put faces on screen names.
we fished hard and chased boils all day and trolled most of the time , it was a tough bite but we managed a few thanks to Kewly your a blast to hang with .

Sat two of my oldest and dearest friends from the fnn and team 57 showed up to fish with me ,the three of us have not fished all together in a long time.

Everything started waiting in the line waiting to get in met t/b and cutbait in line along with alot of others,everybody hustling gear and tackle for days big fishing event for the striper killers out there.got the boat 90 percent set then it was time to go in.

I launched the boat and tied to the dock, right when i realised i forgot till put the props and the presents in the boat for trollys king of the catfish coronation ceremony i was goint to do on the dock when walked down to the boat,the life gaurd was telling me to hurry cause the had to pull the docks out because of the dumpimg more water into the lake.

I hauled butt and parked the truck right then my good friend kenny from the boat rentals showed up he loaded some of the stuff in his golfcart they use to go up and down the ramp,while walking away from the truck i forgot more stuff for the boat.

Man i was a mess and i was worring about trolly and pontoon arriving too soon ,so i got back down the ramp got the stuff kenny didnt carry to the boat for acting like a smuggler the whole time i finally got on the boat and got away from the dock and started hiding trollys presnts under my jacket under the consol and getting the props in order for when i was going to retie to one of the docks.

I still wasnt ready at trolly and terry were loadign stuff on the dock as i hovered amongest the massive boat traffic trying to get out and fish.

Right when i was getting ready to dock a guy walked up the dock and asked for help with his boat i told him i wasnt a mechanic but chris was it was perfect i sent trolly to help the while i tied up set the props and got terry i the right spot for chris came back down the dock.

The ceremony came off so great trolly was totally surprised him terry and myself were laughing like maniacs, the king knighted me with the net and everything he made he fishing decree for the day and we took off the life guards were blown away the had never laught so hard at work before.

Then the fishing started, we worked are way down the fish arm till we got are first action , we had two different colors on the got us a fast 4 or 5 fish then the spot cooled, so we moved on.

Trolly was wearing his catfish burger king crown feel the steel had brought me ,everytime he put on the crown we got action,and different boaters who saw what he was wearing were laughing all day long.

We picked at fish on up the fish arm till we approached the old ss cove all the time terry was asking about the boils and as we all three got stuff ready for the boiling action if we ran into it and sure enough we did .

We spent nearly two hours moving around this cove with the bass and striper boils the whole time chasing a giant school of shad around the cove. the shad were flying out of the water everytime they would corner them .

Terry got his first big fish on a forty year old zara spook trolly pulled out of an antique tackle box full of cool old lures, terry mashe mr stripeys attemps to escape quickly.

After alot of casting and moving around terry then got hooked up a kpn plug i handed him, terry struck death to his second victim of boilkillers, it was his bigfish of the day, we stayed another hour with the boils poppng up and down till it got quite,then we move on.

We worked are way around the lake killing mr stripey along the way we had a hot spot we worked for alot of fish then we went back later for the iceing on the cake at the end of the day.

We saw fnn striper killers fishing everywhere, it was a day of great striper and laughter, i told the boys it was like we were the three stooges out on a fishing trip.

After the fishing was done then it was time for the raffle and all the fun.

The raffle was a great hit, thanks to everyone bgringing great gifts for the raffle i love when the mojave river anglers son got his turn he picked a rod and reel it was great and the crowd erupted with applause and hooping and holering it was really cool,most all had fun doing the quick look over of the prizes before the count downs on peoples time was wild and rowdy it was a great blast.

It was great being in a crowd of totally hardcore fishing people who had fished all day then enjoyed the fun at the raffle and feel the steels fishing songs concert, thank everyone for all the great vibes for day of fishing and fun afterwards.

Terry,Chris ,Gary ,Hiro, Kooly, Geordy ,his Dad,T/B ,Cutbait,Raylo, Tony,Emilo,Deadroots ,all the others who get to talk to thank everyone for really great time and fun,,,,,,,it was one of best days around some of the best fishing people around,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
