Free Fishing Trip This Sunday Oct 18 (7 am). Join Us In Supporting The Proposal Crafted By Fisherman For MLPA Process.
Hi Everyone
The Marine Life Protection Act is getting down to the wire and it sounds like in the next week or so closures will be finalized from one of three options. This is the time were we can make a difference.
Davey's Locker Sportfishing would like to invite everyone to come out for a morning 1/2 day trip for free and to join us in the rally off Dana Point in the afternoon. The trip will be on the Western Pride and depart at 7 am fishing until around 1 pm. The rally will start around 2 pm and you would be back by 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday evening. This trip is free. Please make a reservation for this trip by just calling us at 949-673-1434. There is going to be lots of press at the rally and a big turnout could stack the cards in our favor for a MLPA option that is favorable for our fsihing interests in the future. Foir those of you that can't make it for the day please try to stop by in the afternoon (Sunday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm) at Dana Point Harbor to show your support

The Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Initiative is being finalized for the Southern California Region at a special meeting at the Hilton in Long Beach on October 20th to October 22nd. The MLPA's Blue Ribbon Task Force will consider three maps of marine protected areas created by the South Coast Study Regional Stakeholders Group for adoption by the California Fish & Game Commission.
WORKGROUP MAP 2, validated with the cross interest support of recreational fishermen, commercial fishermen, government representation, and environmental interests, promotes high conservation that meets most of the science guidelines of the MLPA law while minimizing the negative economic impact to the fishing and boating industry, its ancillary businesses and to the economy of the state of California

To make this rally a success, we need as many people as possible to come down and show their support. Newport Landing and Davey's Locker Sportfishing are doing their part by offering a free trip on Sunday October 18th 2009.
