Free Fishing Trip This Sunday Oct 18 (7 am). Join Us In Supporting The Proposal Crafted By Fisherman For MLPA Process.

Hi Everyone
The Marine Life Protection Act is getting down to the wire and it sounds like in the next week or so closures will be finalized from one of three options. This is the time were we can make a difference.

Davey's Locker Sportfishing would like to invite everyone to come out for a morning 1/2 day trip for free and to join us in the rally off Dana Point in the afternoon. The trip will be on the Western Pride and depart at 7 am fishing until around 1 pm. The rally will start around 2 pm and you would be back by 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday evening. This trip is free. Please make a reservation for this trip by just calling us at 949-673-1434. There is going to be lots of press at the rally and a big turnout could stack the cards in our favor for a MLPA option that is favorable for our fsihing interests in the future. Foir those of you that can't make it for the day please try to stop by in the afternoon (Sunday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm) at Dana Point Harbor to show your support

DANA POINT HARBOR
YOUR FISHING ACCESS IS IN JEOPARDY!!
The Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Initiative is being finalized for the Southern California Region at a special meeting at the Hilton in Long Beach on October 20th to October 22nd. The MLPA's Blue Ribbon Task Force will consider three maps of marine protected areas created by the South Coast Study Regional Stakeholders Group for adoption by the California Fish & Game Commission.

WORKGROUP MAP 2, validated with the cross interest support of recreational fishermen, commercial fishermen, government representation, and environmental interests, promotes high conservation that meets most of the science guidelines of the MLPA law while minimizing the negative economic impact to the fishing and boating industry, its ancillary businesses and to the economy of the state of California

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR MAP 2!!
• JOIN THE SPORTFISHING FLEET AT DANA POINT HARBOR
• GET INFORMATION ON THE WORKGROUP MAP 2 AND LEARN ABOUT EACH
SUBREGION
• UNDERSTAND MAP 2 CONSERVATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS
• LEARN WHY WORKGROUP MAP 2 IS THE BEST CHOICE FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
• MEET THE STAKEHOLDERS WHO CRAFTED THE WORKGROUP MAP 2 AND FIND OUT
HOW THEY CONSIDERED FISHERMEN'S CONCERNS.
• SPEAK TO GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES IN FAVOR OF MAP 2
• RECEIVE TALKING POINTS FOR THE BLUE RIBBON TASK FORCE MEETING IN LONG
BEACH ON OCTOBER 21, 2009
• SIGN A VIDEO PETITION TO BE PRESENTED TO THE BLUE RIBBON TASK FORCE
• BRING "YES ON 2" SIGNAGE FOR YOUR PHOTO-OP WITH MEDIA COVERAGE
• SPECIAL FISHING TRIPS FROM: DAVEY'S LOCKER (949) 673-1434; NEWPORT LANDING (949) 675-0551;

I got this in my e-mail just a few min. ago. But i know about it 1:00 when i call to get on the half day.

After such a large response from our e-mail sent out earlier, Davey's Locker opted to put the Freelance online for the MLPA Protest this Sunday.
This trip will depart at 6:00am and fish along the coast until 2:00pm. The Freelance will then join in on the MLPA Protest in Dana Point and arrive back to the dock at roughly 5:00pm. The cost for this trip is $15.00 per angler.

Coming up this week at Davey's Locker:

The Freelance is now running their standard 3/4 day trips starting Thursday (10/15). Departure time for these trips is 7:00am, returning to the dock around 6:00pm. The price for their 3/4 Day trip is $69.00 for adults and $59.00 for Juniors or Seniors. They do have trips available this week on Thursday (10/15) & Friday (10/16), then starting up again on
Monday (10/19). They are also still running their Twilight trip this
Friday & Saturday night.

The Western Pride is running open party morning & afternoon 1/2 days on Saturday (10/17). We are expecting sunny weather out on the peninsula this Saturday, head on down for some fall fishing!
