had a monday off and decided to hit up castaic since we did so good on sunday.got there early and hit up the west ramp didnt see any boils so we went over by the tower and hapo hooked four nice striper (on sluggos).i couldnt get any to stick got boiled on a few times but that was it.then got thrown out by the lifeguard now we know that spot is off limits.so we found a nice spot where the shad were bunched up.hapo forgot his dip net but i had a little black net he was making fun of.he was calling it my butterfly net and mary poppins:ROFL:.but when we ran into the shad mary poppins caught a bucket full.then it was on!!!!we must of hooked over a hundred large mouths from 6:30am til 4:00pm it was awsome.

well the shad were a nice treat but back to reality and using lures.

nice shad action of the west ramp. Shad is hard to come by right now from the shore, you mos def worked it and came upon what us shorefishermen called "thee pot o' gold".


just be carefull them shad can kill it for ya, as you said back to reality lol.


Gotta love fishing with live shad, now if someone could get a lure that worked like a real shad life would be good hahaha!

Nice catch. Thanks for the post.

The only thing that I don't like about live shad is that sometimes it's hard to keep the bass off the line long enough to get striper. I've had worse problems.:Smile:
