Fishing Ventura pier saturday

Going to be in ventura for the day and have managed to steal an hour or so to do some fishing. Any recomendations on which part of the pier to fish from? (out at the end, in the middle, etc.) going to be throwing artificials only. would like to try for some halibut. was going to try the surf but dont want to get wet.

I would try using some Gulp sandworms in the middle of the pier just behind the surf line for perch. If you want halibut you are probably better off fishing the surf or trying inside Ventura harbor; however, if you only have an hour, I would go after the perch as you are likely to get at least some action..
