Hi everyone. It's been a while since I've posted. Haven't been doing to much fishing lately. I wanted to share my latest exploration for the last two weeks.
I was anxious for the start of the lobster season. I had a lot of luck last season at Ocean Beach Pier... all illegal but still I had success. So I decided to go and out and try again. Openning week we actually caught one lobster. It was short, but it was a good sign...

Course I spoke too soon. Turns out that shorty was the only one of the night. We did manage to catch some mackarel. I was actually suprised. I've never caught macks out there at Ocean Beach.
So all in all, caught a few macks and 1 short lobster. We decided to come out and try again the following week. Let's just say there was no luck there. When my friend was pulling up his cage, we saw something in the bottom of it. It looked almost like a crab so when the cage came up and over the railing and was placed on the floor, out squirmed an octopus. It was beautiful.

I couldn't believe how quickly it squeezed out from between the holes in the mesh of the hoopnet. Anyways, it went back and that was pretty much our story for the day.
Actually I lied. My friend caught 1 bonito, and my sister and I caught a few macks again.
My husband caught a few winks...

I can't believe how quiet the waters have been. There is like absolutly no sign of lobsters so far. I don't think I saw anyone with any lobsters that day. I saw a few guys catch some small baracuda. Not sure if they were released or not, but I know they weren't legal sized for sure.
Hoping to find better luck next time.
Take care,
Sue...
