Went to Lake Skinner today hoping to catch some stripers and catfishes, but turned out to be different. All I caught was only a few bluegills and an 18" long LMB. One of the bluegill I caught was on sardines and an 18" long LMB was on mealworms. Saw a lot of small stripers boils too far out here and there early in the morning. It was out of reached and all I could do was just stood there and enjoy looking at them chasin' after the minnows. The bite was really really slow today so I just gave up and ended the day around 5 PM.

Those ares some nice size gills you got there. Are you guys fishing behind ramp2 in the cove? It's seem that most people had a slow weekend of fishing at skinner, good thing I took this weekend off. Next weekend should be better there a new Moon starting Sunday. Next time you come to skinner send me a PM, we meet up.

Yea I was fishing on Skinner with my father and my uncle before the weather cooled of about a month ago. Got one bit in a shallow lagoon, must have been a small fry, but that was it for the whole day. On the other had went up to Cuyamaca about two and half weeks ago and did pretty well. We caught 5 good size cats over by the dam we could have caught alot more but we where more interested in trout so we trolled some rooster tails off the point across from the boat launch and limited on 1lb average Rainbow Trout. The cats where biting on night crawlers around 10-11am, not sure if they are still biting now. The trout though we got those in about 2 hours around 1pm. Just trolling back and forth off that point in the leeward side. No strippers at that lake though, but there are white sturgeon. :Big Grin: Would anyone know off hand about trout stalking? Not sure if what we caught where stalkers or natives. I've heard that all stalkers have the adipose fin cut off so its just a scar? All the trout we got had their fin.
