its was me and exfactor doing a run up at the lake today
started at around 8ish for some redear hunting... we did manage
to pick away at some decent size shellcrackers, all in the
middle of the lake.. water temp was around 67 degrees,

it was redear thing today so the slabs had to wait.LOL
couple hours of daylight left the driffting had started..
the water was a little merky in some spots.. tough
driffting out there until we got into a wide open
smallmouth bite!!!! to end the day..

thnx for the ride again mikey and he will through
some shots of the day;

I might need some tips for panfish on the upper lake. I have only caught them without a boat on the lower lake before. They are so fun to catch! Awesome fish!

Could you provide me with some tips of where you caught those fish? I always have a tough time at Cachuma. Many of times I have come off that lake with a radiant white stripe down my back. In the picture, it looks like you were fishing straight off the launch ramp and not close to the damn area. Also, were you drifting night crawlers and how deep did you have to drift? I apologize for all the questions but I usually take one or more new potential anglers with me on every trip up there. But it is hard to have people get excited about fishing when we dont catch anything. :EyePop: any help would be appreciated.

Mikey was fishing on my boat, and he drives 2 hours to fish up here with me. I have been fishing Cachuma since 1980. I spend alot of time looking at spots on my meter, and change up tactics as the seasons change. I still have my share of slow days, but I am persistent. If you are having a slow day, go check out some of the other anglers that are up there fishing. Ask if they are doing well, and what they are fishing for. Don't get set on only one way to catch a fish, and keep an open mind. Hope this helps. Mike

we were using meally's straight on the
bottom for most of the bites...

depth that day ranged from 25 to say 35
for the redears and gills..

the smallmouth bite was INSANE, all on
the drift about half way down,,,

good luck
