PURSUIT 10/07 *Good fishing and NICE weather*

Good fishing and nice weather!

Got to the landing extra early today hoping to be the first in line so we can get some spots on the stern. We ended up getting there around 4am! the landing opens at 5am and the boat departs at 6am. So what to do while we wait? FISH!

Hbomb walked down onto the docks and I fished from the walkway. Hbomb caught some mackerel…I didn’t catch ish. So the lights turn on in the office and were first in line. I get our tickets and my phone starts ringing. Odium is lost! He finally sees the big 22nd Street Landing sign and pulls in the parking lot.

We board the boat and start fishing…LOL..lots of macks on the swimbaits, half torn swimbaits, and little megabait jigs. Make our way to the bait boat and pick up some BIG sardine/mack and some small anchovies.

These sardines were HUGE.

I get rigged up and hit the bunk for some sleep. Wake up to NICE weather at Catalina. Flat seas, no wind, and sun is out.

It was a little slow in the beginning. We had to troll and work on a school of bonito at a time. When we found the schools, it was WO with 3,4,5,6 going at the same time. There were lots of lost fish due to tangles and inexperience. Some guys did not want to move from their assigned number to follow their fish!

For some reason I just couldn’t fish bait today! I got most of my bonito on the surface iron and megabait jigs.

Another great day on the water with the Pursuit crew. Deckhands Gus and Mike did a great job of gaffing, dealing with tangles, fileting, pretty much dealling with a lot of sh.. LOL. Captain kept us on the fish all day. We didn’t spend too much time on non productive spots. Hope to fish with these guys again soon.



The fish are still biting and I cant wait to hang a few more bonito with you guys on Sunday!!!

That's a funny shot of the guy using his spinning rig upside down and the one dude that's standing there looking at the camera looks annoyed. What is with guys standing at their assign spot and not moving around to avoid tangles- that's retarded.

Yes, that was some good bonita, they've been cooking it on every trip ive been so far with the pursuit, and its delicious.

I lost two big ones because people refused to follow their fish. Hbomb probably lost three or four that way. Not sure if Vic lost any that way because he was trying to avoid the noobs where ever he could.

Vic tried to gain the title of The Hooker again while we were still at the docks. He was messing with the mackerel on a plastic and pulled a little too hard. Plastic flew out of the water and smacked me on the cheek. Luckily I didn't get hooked.

The stern was crowded with trollers yesterday. Five or six people trolling, with one guy trying to troll with a sabiki? I think he is the one that caused that mad tangle in the picture vic posted.

The first bonie that vic landed on the troll ended up sliding under the rail and back to freedom. . .

We had good spots in the port stern corner, but the starboard side seemed to be the side to be on yesterday.


GD, you would have been proud of me yesterday. I pulled one of your signature moves. The not so stealthy rail poach. . . Second to last stop, the boat went wide open. I just got ripped off on my 800xl. Didn't want to retie. So I ended up grabbing my 800L with Vic's Megabait. I stood in the middle of the boat for like 45 seconds, some guy left his starboard rail spot to rebait, I slipped in really quick and casted out, about 15 seconds after I got picked up on the drop. I don't think the guy was all that happy when he turned around and saw me on a bendo in his spot.
