Bonita fishing at Catalina has been on fire lately. The fish are pushing over 5lbs and a blast to catch on the surface iron. They were biting everything from Fishtrap plastics to Tady 45s, but bait seems to produced better action for some anglers. The crossing over was nice and flat compare to last Wednesday.

People getting their fish clean.
According to 976-tuna the final fish count was 26 anglers who caught 11 Calico Bass, 6 Sheephead , 117 Bonito, and 10 Perch. I know a lot of people look down on bonita as good table fare, but imo they make excellent table fare if handle properly. Fishing today was good and I would like to thank the crew for all their hard work. Thanks for reading and goodluck on your next fishing adventure, Pokerface12.

Hope that bite sticks around for the weekend. I agree with you on the bonita too-they're not bad eating if you prepare and cook them right.

those bonito are the perfect size, and i'll eat the hell out of em. on the chubasco 3 last year the deck hand bled and chilled a bonito for a killer sashimi lunch on the boat. some of the best ive ever had. and bonito poke is the best.

Yea they pull real good. Had one that I thought was a yellow at first, but just a larger model bonita.

They make excellent tuna sandwiches.

A lot of people never tired them before, but base their judgment on what others tell them. It's sad, but its true.

I fished most of the day and not a hint of motion sickness today. It was nice.:Razz:
