View Full Version : Chasing after boils at Castaic Lake 09/29/09

Couldn't sleep last night cuz I was dreaming about catching stripers on the surface when they boils. Got to the lake just in time. By the time I got down there, saw some of those fishermen caught one or two stripers already. I got bored after I've tried to toss my lure and reeled it in slowly for about 2 hours without any hit or followed. So, I went to take a nap for about an hour. While I was sleeping, I heard some guys screaming "BOIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I woke up then grabbed other guy's rod and ran after the boil. Didn't realize that I grabbed the wrong rod until I saw him chasing after me saying that I got his rod. :Embarrassed: By the time I ran back to get my rod, the boil was long gone already. :Big Grin: At around 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM, there were boils here and there mostly too far to reached. At the end of the day I managed to pulled off 2 decent models. I took off around 5:30 PM and got stuck on the freeway for almost 2 hours. Got home around 7:15 PM. I was so happy to get home. :Big Grin:

Nice fish PJ. One of these days I will hit up that lake, but it just too far. I will probly pack up the gear into the prius to do some shore fishing.

Thanks for the report and congrats on the catch, Im going to be going out to Castaic either this week or the following week. Were gonna fish from opening to close haha.

Those big boys came really close to shore yesterday. I almost got slapped on my face a few times. J/K... :Big Grin:

Isn't it fun to see those shore fishermen running after the boils? :Big Grin: I'm one of them too. Sometimes, we got lucky if we get to the boils on time and work the lure right. Sometimes, we didn't even work the lure, as soon as the lure touched the water, it got hit right away. That's even better, huhh! :Big Grin:
