Set out last night about 9pm to a little community lake in RSM... Saw a guy catch a 10+ pound carp there last summer so decided to give it a try since I have never caught one myself. hit the local market for 2 cans of corn and some 99 cent white bread and was off.. got there around 10 fishing a small pointt by the marina set up 3 poles with bobber rig on a 5 foot leader to small single hook loaded with corn... caught on within a minute. MY FIRST CARP EVER. continue to fish and get like 8 small 10inch carp in about 30 min.. got tired of these little guy eating all the bait and even attacking the bobber like crazy so moved to the spot where the big one was caught last year. Loaded up a hook with no weight or bobber packed really tight with a lump of bread and threw it out.... set the rod down with open spool cuz i knew the carp can feel any tension and spit it out. was rigging another pole and look back to the rod and see the line peeling off pretty good run over to it click it in gear and set the hook... GAME ON!! mind you this is on my small trout pole with 4lb test.. after 3 or 4 drag runs out to middle of lake get him cloes to shore down the bank a little run over to grab this large carp but NOOO!! turns out it was a great sized catfish.. have my brother lay down and scoop him on shore.. nice one !!! (first two pics beow) rig the other rod with same set up hoping to get into a big carp but the kitties still wanted to play. ended up with 3 good size cats and a tiny one about 6 inches haha... sure beat paying $20.00 at any pay lake to catch the same fish but smaller. I will be back soon to get my first big carp. ANYONE KNOW ANY GOOD LOCAL LAKES OR GOLF COURSE PONDS HOLDING GOOD CARP?! I know there are some big ones in RSM lake but it was so thick with little one could not get into the bigger ones.

Sounding like you guys had a blast, but there are some hugh carps in the santa ana river from riverside down past corona, continue scounting and I'm sure you'll find them in massive schools, in fact I heard of people noodling for them in the SAR in corona, good luck and congerats on your catch.

Wow noodling in the SAR. Really taking your life in your own hands right there. How would you noodle for carp anyway?

Noodling is a way to fish for catfish by swimming around the bottom of a lake or river and sticking your hand in a holes hoping a catfish is in one of them. The catfish bites down on your hand and them you pull em out.
