Catalina Mako Shark Madness - sat 9-26-09

While out hunting Marlin, one of those ol' Mako sharks poked his head on up in Gary's neihborhood, somewhere where he shouldnt show his face to say the least.....


Hookup... it was about 5 feet long !

8 1/2' 250 lb steel leader and 50lb mono....

after about 15 minutes of fight and 4 leaping jumps....he bests me and breaks me offm, apparently with his tail skin grinding on the mono...

The braid will be out next time and some more steel leaders...

Ya can't win them all and the fish have to win once in a while.

I don't regret losing that fish, I was treated with some wonderfull acrobatics that won't soon be forgotten.

That fish probably said":

"don't show my face in the wrong area my arse...this is my house and I'll show you that this house is a rockin and YOU came a knockin but I aint letting you in !!"

Ha ha ha....good fun and some sweet camera work from Norm !

even though it was shorth lived, I could see you were in fish heaven. Makos are great fun, and yummy too!

Thats to bad about the snaped line but atleast you seen it jump i have seen some crazy jumps on Makos and T-Sharks when they are trying to spit the hook in mid air back flips and all. Better luck next time on the Marlin and Mako.
