Been dying to get back into the surf again, but had to fulfill one final obligation to take one of my buddies Striper fishing with the one & only Bob Caffey (Troutonly). Since Phuong (Blackwater) was busy on a Canadian cruise this week, his partner Vincent (FishnFurious) jumped at the chance to fill the vacancy. This was Vincent's first ever Striper trip and we initiated him into the Striper Killing Club in style.

Phuong (Blackwater) also issued a new challenge to me this week before he left on vacation. Hook & land a double digit Striper on a topwater lure with a "Barbie" style rod & reel combo. I have the entire season to accomplish this challenge. Now that's a tough one... and I made my first attempt today.

Details of the day: Three full limits of Stripers, but much tougher to get today. Definitely not as wide open as it has been the past couple of weeks. All schoolie size with no bigger models in the mix today. Majority of the fish were caught trolling and a handful caught in the few boils that we ran accross today. Water level was down significantly with signs of an algea bloom and a large shad die off was present. Lake Lice traffic was moderate and getting lighter with each passing week.

Pics of the day.

Just got back into town yesterday Art, Canada was wonderful. :Big Grin:
I see that you accepted and already started on the new challenge. Good start on the schoolies buddy but that DD striper is going to kick your a**! Don't forget to keep the stock line on that reel buddy. I think it comes with 80 yards of #6. I'm going to have fun picking out a set up for myself out of your game room by the end of the striper season. I have my eyes on that nice Stella/Carrot Stix spinning combo.
Bob, we got him now, pass the kryptonite!!!

Still waiting for the big boys to show themselves.................

Finally worked myself into the rotation to fish with T-O. Blackwater, I wish you go on vacation more often. Learned alot from Wingnut and Troutonly and got my first striper. Dropped all the fish off at the in-laws and didn't have to clean a single one. Phuong, Arthur was focused and determined to complete the new challenge. i think you're in trouble bro, when Arthur puts his mind to do something, it usually gets done. That was so much fun, lets do it again! :Big Grin:

new challenge to me this week before he left on vacation. Hook & land a double digit Striper on a topwater lure with a "Barbie" style rod & reel combo. that's a tough one...

[/IMG]

Nice one !....I like it : )

We still should do what I mentioned at legends....

Beer can fish off----use the beer can to cast and catch fish....I think it would be a hoot !

Anyways, you probably think I'm joking but I'm not !....ha ha ha : )

Real nice work out there guys, way ta slay them bad boys...lay 'em down and smack 'em yak em !

Keel them.....keel them dead !.

Looks like a wonderfull day out there on the water, maybe we'll see you guys at striper-fest on the 17th, I'd hate ta be a striper on that day.....in one sweeping motion...a signifigant decrease in stripers #'s will happen...in fact, withing hours after being caught, I'd predict their flesh will be on the BBQ and the stories will follow : )

Nice report as always Arthur, congrats to everyone on all those fine catches, man, I'd really like to get some underwater shots of those stripers in their frenzies....do you know anyone with an underwater video unit ? / camera ?

Anyways, we need re-work Bob's boat and paint a red cross insignia on it and call it the local blood donation center...

Let the blood flow !
!

Nice work guys,
Gary
