Decided to head back and do more exploring in Huntington. On the water by 6am and started off fishing bridge pilings and some random docks. Tesserz was workin the DS while I was throwin the swimmie. We fished for the first hour without a nibble, so we decided to get the heck out of there and head straight for the areas that were producing for us last week.

Tesserz scores with the first fish of the morning on the DS

Just like last week, the swimmie wasn't producing anything for me so I switch up to a DS and follow in Tesserz footsteps.

A few minutes later... A SPOTTIE!

Next stop at Simple Green

The clouds begin to burn away and all of sudden we are looking at sunshine and blue skies and the bite turns off like a switch. Damn it!

Tesserz however manages to fool a short flatty

For the next hour we try a few different areas for nada and then something strange happens..

The fog begins to roll back in and I'm back in business with a WSB! YESSS! :Big Grin: I did my best not to handle this guy too much.

We move a few yards down and something slams my DS HARD! I was thinking "This is it!"

http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss284/Jaysuuun/H7.jpg

CRAP!

http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss284/Jaysuuun/H8.jpg

Not a legal, but it's a pb harbor hali for me. When I pulled this guy up, I noticed he was wrapped up in someones live bait rig. Probably from a yakker or tuber drift fishing the area.

http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss284/Jaysuuun/H9.jpg

Again the fog burns away and the bite shutsdown. With the bright sunny weather and crystal clear water we decide to drift over deeper water.

Tesserz jumps back on the board with another butt.

Tired and hungry we decide to try one last spot..

and one last Spottie! :Big Grin:

Oh wait! One last flattie and the last fish of the day for Tesserz.

Not an epic day of fishing, but I'm glad we were able to gain a little more information on fishing this harbor. We noticed tons of bait jumpin around the harbor all day and although the presence of baitfish is usually considered a good thing, there was so much I kinda felt we had to compete for the larger fishes attention. Til next time.

Great job. I fish off the docks in peters landing a lot. If you want to try bait, fish with muscles. I have been catching a lot of big sargo around the docks lately and yellow fin croaker. Tight lines.!

Nice work you two!! I've always wondered what species of fish occupy that area.

I always wondered the same thing. I used to think the boaters out there were fishing for sharks and bat rays. BTW I sent you a pm.

Glad you enjoyed the post. It was a good day until the sun came out and shutdown the bite.

Thanks for the detailed report. Glad you had fun.

As long as we're catching fish, we're having fun. The first hour of fishing was not so fun.

yeahhhh! good job guys! congrats on another sweet wsb!

Thanks man, I remembered what you said on my last post, so I was really careful when handling this one. She swam away unharmed.

Killed it out there,, good job on the WSB....

Well, I wouldn't say that we killed it out there because we had to work really hard for all those fish. We definitely put in our time.

Nice outing for sure! How big is ur raft and do u just row it around?
Thanks for the report!

The raft is a 10footer and is equipped with oars, but we never paddle around the harbor. We have a small trolling motor that gets us to the fish. It's pretty slow, but it does the job. On a full charge it can last us an entire day of fishing.

We actually tried fishing some open docks near that area, but no bite. We had better luck fishing in deeper water towards the channel. We usually fish with plastics. It makes it easier for me because I don't have to keep rebaiting Tesserz rod.

Great day for sure!!!:Big Grin:
Legals are on your way!!!!
GOOD- Report!!!

Thanks. I want a LEGAL!

Well done you two... you'll get that legal Hali soon Jason.

I want a legal hali NOW! LOL I think my chances are slim for getting a legal in HH, due to the fishing pressure in that area. I would say that 90% of the fisherman we've seen there are fishing strictly for the butts. I think I may have to break out the surf gear and experiment with the lethal LC if I want a legal.

Very, very niiiice....thanks for the report and congrats on the wsb. Legal wsb and hali next time out!

Legal hali? ...Maybe:Confused: Legal WSB?... I wish
