Man I was lucky to avoid the skunk at Castaic this morning by landing this 15 pound brown rock fish! Plus a new specie for me. I actually saw schools of these just in front of me in the lake! The biggest topping 100 pounds! :EyePop:

i know if the bass bite gets tuff that the rock fihs will play i always seem to get them on crikets with a 3/0 hook and a pyramid sinker 2oz seems to be the setup for them. i am willing to guide anyone that has the courage to fight these monsters.

ps the brown rocks dont fight as hard as the gray ones.

i dont use a fillet knife for rock fish thats crazy talk i use a pocket knife so i can be carefull and get all the meat out of it.

I've found my stanley hammer and chisel plus my handy concrete saw work really well at getting to the meat of these fish. However the meat is a little tough to chew. :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

you need a stomach of steel in order to digest the tough meat. i like to put alittle seasoning and some butter on mine, i sometimes dont use a hammer and chisel becasue it damages the meat.

:ROFL: Pretty much any bare hook works if you drag it on the bottom long enough! They ain't to picky of a fish but they don't seem to care for weedless hooks. Grandkids seem to have a knack for finding them bout every cast dammit!!! :Angry:
