Ferno, thebigsteeler and I hit the duct late afternoon yesterday for a couple of hours. It's been awhile since the Striper Mafia all fished together. We knew it was going to be tough fishing but it beats sitting in the chair and internet fishing http://www.hookupsportfishing.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

We hit the first spot and the water is flowing just right. thebigsteeler brought some chovies so ferno shockingly decides to throw a bait rod out. I have never seen him do that. First cast and his chovy goes flying off the hook. He is reeling in the line and he feels some resistance. Thought he might of got hung up near the edge. Then he feels a fish. pulls it out and it's a tiny LMB about 5" long. The sucker hit a bare hook. We are in shock and awe. If it starts out with a such a rare duct catch on a bare hook no less, we are thinking it is going to be an epic day of fishing?

We keep fishing this spot for a little bit and I get my first hit and hook up and do battle with the fish. Initially it is not fighting hard, probably because it was swimming towards me, but then in true duct fashion it makes a few runs trying to get off. No such thing as I land it. It hit the KPN skinny shad. I keep tossing for nothing and I get the KPN hung up on the bottom and I can't free it. Lost my skinny shad.

Next to hook up again is ferno. He was tossing quite afew different lures and finally got one to commit on a BBZ 4" swimbait. His fish is breaking the surface and is putting on a good fight. After a little battling, it is landed.

Nothing else happening at the first spot so we hit up two more spots with nothing. At the 2nd spot, the gates were opening up and the water was really starting to move. No moss though but no fish either. We decide to call it a night around 9:00pm.

Good to get together with the fishing partners again. Congrats to ferno for pulling a needle out of a haystack with the LMB and of course the striper. Thebigsteeler will get them next time. It is still tough striper fishing out there in the AV. A few more weeks and it should be on with the cooler weather approaching.

Thanks TB and CB. I saw 2 nice size LMB in like May swimming side by side right at the edge. There is definitely offspring because this was a little guy. We also found a dead silverside minnow just floating.

Weve caught about 10 here this year to 4 lbs. I saw literally 200 fry one day at tupman gates here.
