I'm not a big freshwater guy but this weekend I would like to give it a try and go for some cats. I currently live in La Mesa Ca and would like to know if there's a local lake around here that I can drive my truck up to the shore and fish. Like I said I'm not to big (knowledgeable) on fresh water fishing so I would just like to cast out and forget about it. Any info would be very helpful....thanks! And is mackerel and Hog Wild any good for bait?

Get some Mackeral and a box of Nightcrawlers.
You can flyline (put no weight) for your Mack.. cut a piece about the size of your hook and make sure the hook point minimumly is exposed.

good luck,

Skinner, which is about 65 plus from where live. If you are going to shore fish go to ramp 2 chicken liver and anchoives for bait. Won't need to cast far in the early morning since the cats are close to shore at time.
