View Full Version : Bbl 9/15-9/17 late report

My neighbor and i went to bbl for a few days to try again at the big skunk lake, 1st day 17 incher, pinky, fished 2 hours, 2nd day fished 5 hours,everywhere tried everything, big skunk, 3rd day fished 5 hours, lost 1, no love, passed papoose bay east major amounts of algie, too thick, lake temp 66 degrees all over, didn't see or hear of anyone catching anything,bbl lake is a total bummer this year! At least the camping was good, oh i forgot, no campfires, didn't see signs, 1st nite fire dept came told us to put out fire, they were cool about it, it's weird camping without a campfire, at least we were able to cook the fish,cheers!
Yes Big Bear has not been up to par for me all summer long. Normally mid summer I can get love on the fly all day but this year it's been mostly a night bite if anything.
Let's just hope the fall turns on.
17 inches and pink, nice fish, yummy!

Thanks for the report. Nice looking campground, where is it? Is that a forest service campsite?

it is Serrano campground, northeast side of lake, that is space 132 lots of trees,shade 90 percent of day,close to bathroom.

I was up there the same time you were. Sounds like with your one fish, you had more success than any body else.
