Great Fishing at Castaic... and the Company Wasn't Bad Either! Sunday 9/20/09

Hit Castaic today with Bob (TroutOnly) and my buddy Anthony (Beans77). It was a funfilled day hanging out and fishing with friends and other members of Team 57. :Cool:

The Striper action was absolutely sick with plenty of schoolies and a few bigger units mixed in. Easy limits for everyone and we released so many fish that I lost count. It was a warm day with not too much lake lice traffic. The shore brigade was out in force with the shoreline and most of the points packed with topwater slingers... funny seeing them running in every which directions when the boils appears. :LOL:

The majority of the fish were caught via trolling but we did manage to sit on a nice boil in the late afternoon session that lasted for a solid ten minutes and anihilated them on the topwater. :Twisted: We were fishing in close proximity with Kewly & Noho Art in their boat and Trolly in his boat when all hell broke loose near the West Ramp. Everybody hooked up instantly...
Just so you guys know how intense this boil was. We rolled up the umbrella rigs and had them dangling in the water just over the side of the boat while we threw the topwater. The Stripers were coming up to the dead umbrella rig and slamming the jigs just dangling in the water. :Shocked: We just lifted the rod and dumped them on the boat. That was fun!

I fish it so hard in the surf with you Mike, that whenever I'm on the Phenom, I do nothing but relax. I just let Bob take us to the fish and it's a done deal. I have to keep a couple of promises while the Striper bite is hot and I'll be back in the surf with ya very soon. Keep those Flatties in check for me during my absence. :Wink:

Plenty of Castaic Lake veterans on the board to help you out Chris. Some are even experts on "other" boards. But your best bet is to book a trip with Bob. He will get you dialed in and smoke those Linesides in no time at all. :Twisted:

Okay, the boil pic is actually the turbulence created by the incoming water from the underwater pipes over by the dam. I'm sure most of you guys caught that. It was pretty amazing to see. It was quite strong and could tip a vessel if it got too close.
Trolly loves that trophy... I heard that he sleeps with it and we saw him scoop a cupful of Castaic water to quench his thirst on Sunday. That guy has got an ironclad stomach! :Shocked:

I think you're right about Trolly Dana. I noticed that all day long at the surf event, he never hit the restroom once and he drank like three gallons of lemonade. :Shocked: I had people fishing near the Trollmeister tell me that they kept hitting warm spots in the surf... hmmm, I wonder why? :Secret: :ROFL:
