Where to start?....
My brother has been teasing me for some months with stories about how his friend has a 55' boat and...one day...he will take us out. I finally got to see the boat for myself a few days ago. We went to check the boat out and did some dock fishing while we were there...caught some short WSB(see harbor reports).
The "boat" is more like a 55' Yacht Fisher

My bro's friend Bruce told us to get ready to head out that friday for some offshore fishing. Depending on how the weather looked of course.
Friday came and the weather looked pretty good. Got my gear ready and we met Bruce at the boat. His friend John would be joining us for this trip. Only 4 of us on a 55' yacht fisher...Awesome!
We stopped at the bait dock for some anchovies and dines.

And we're off!

I wasnt too familiar with navigating the open sea...It wasnt a problem with Bruce. He taught me the basics and how to get a hold of him in case of an emergency. We all took turns navigating down to the Mushroom Bank while the others got some sleep. The pimped out electronics made it simple.

We finaly got to the Mushroom and ALL of our anchovies rolled....We still had about 3/4 of our Sardines to work with. We chunked some of the dead bait and soaked some dines... Didnt take long for us to start hooking up.

It got a little slow so we made a move...headed over to the Butterfly and looked for paddys on the way there.

You see anything bro?
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa293/ogvictor1/offshore034.jpg
I spot a NICE paddy with some birds circling it...we slow down...drift to it...chunk some chum. I pick out a nice sardine...flyline..20 seconds and it gets picked up! put my reel in gear and FISH ON! then my bro has a fish on! Woooohooooo! WFO yellowtail bite. I get my fish on deck...my bro gets his...Bruce wakes up and starts fishing...I start chucking iron and hook up again. Bruce and my bro are hooked up on the flyline. John comes down from the wheelhouse and flylines a dine...at this point nobody is gaffing fish... we start bouncing 8-10lb yellowtail on deck. One of my yellows shook the iron off and it gets John on the leg. Great... It doesnt look too deep...but its deep enough to where we had to stop fishing and work on his leg. Bruce cuts the trebble...and loops the hook back thru the skin creating another puncture wound. The hook finally came out. From then on Johns nickname was "hook leg"...and i became the "the Hooker".
So after the minor surgical precedure, we get back to fishing... roll back on the paddy...chunk some chum...flyline. and......................................no bites! The fish must have sunk out. We gave it a little longer...nothing.
one of my brothers first yellowtail...Good job bro! not bad for a newb...hahaha!

It started getting late so we made a move...off to Pyramid in SCI. No kelp paddys on the way there. We found a nice spot to anchor on, dropped the hook...and we would stay here for the night. broke the filet table out and Bruce got to work on the days slay.
BLOOD!

We get done with fish cleaning...and some deck cleaning. For dinner we had an awesome steak with baked potatoes and green beans mmmmmmmmmm.... I tried to make bait later that night since all our bait was dead, but the damn seals were all over...finally gave up and headed to my bunk...Im not used to sleeping on the water in such comfort. I could get used to this.

Wake up the next morning...the game plan now is to hit a couple spots on the way home. With only jigs to work with, we worked the Pyramid, Mack Bank, Church rock...with no luck at all. Nothing on the troll...nothing on the jigs.
