My father in law just turned 60 so we're taking a trip to big bear lake this weekend. He loves to fish, and I'm the "fish guy". Problem is I never fished BBL before. We will be there saturday and sunday, and the place is right on the marina. Are there panfish in the marina, or just trout in the middle of the lake? I think we're renting a boat also. Any suggestions on how to fish this lake would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

There are plenty of fish everywhere. Fish near any dock or structure in the area. BBL has been stocked continuously lately and the action should be fair to good. Stick with the classics. Powerbait off the bottom (buy is many colors try to see which works) or use a slipbob.

Have fun

This place rules, but in summer it can be a little tricky for the trout. But the trout here are beautiful!

There are also Smallmouth bass here. Those are tasty.

Try a slip bobber rig near the dam. or fish at night.

Powerbait as well Bandwgn09. Just got to set the slip bobber to were the fish are at.
