Since you like the Crucial so much, why don't you just find the one you like buy it?

If you are willing to look at other options, check out the St. Criox Mojo Bass rods. They are very nice and reasonably prices at around $100. For a reel, I'd look at the offerings by Shimano, Daiwa, and Quantum. I like the fact that Quantum offers a flipping switch on some of their baitcasters.

For light/sparse cover, 15-30 lb floro, I use a Phenix MBX707H. Its 7'7" Heavy Power. I love the split grip and it's super light. Paired it up with a Curado E7, super smooth and super strong drag. I flipped an 8.2 lber out of a lay down this past summer and tried to bounce it on shore...lol got rejected and lipped it but the rod was solid and didnt snap. I never put money into a setup for heavy cover as I haven't come across any, where I fish. I have a couple crucials but the Phenix kicks ***. If I had the money I would trade my crucials for phenixs... Hope this helps.

When I use to stand on the deck of a bass-boat in years gone by my favorite rod was a MBR843c-GLX it was lite sensitive just a sweet all-around rod if the cover was a touch heavier or the lure was on the larger side I'd grab a 844 but the 843 was the 1 I went to first.

Yea the new cores are sick, and as light as the steez for a little less coin. Tackle wearhouse does have the 50th aniv. zillion for 220 and they are great reels if you can handle the red color. good luck

i use a st croix legend tournament 7'3" big jig blank custom wrapped with a little longer handle than the factory rod comes with. most people who are going into the thick stuff are using 7'6" or 8 foot rods and 50lb+ braided line. if i was moving to the delta i'd get the st croix 7'11" big gulp but its probably overkill for what we've got down here.
