Feet hit the sand at the A.O. 5.30am.
Had the pole rigged with the #12 Mack Rapala hard bait.
8lb. Trilene on a 8.6 Clarus, which Shimano sent me after I
sent my broken one in.
FIRST CAST !!! FISH-ON !!!! With the new pole!!!! UNREAL!!!:EyePop:
They sent me three new poles that I just sent in to them, that got
broken over time. So, I just want to say publicly that I thank you
SHIMANO!!! for your integrity in keeping your word on the warranty!!!!
Few and far between is there in Business or men that will practice
what they preach, or do what they say!!! :Big Grin:
NOW !!! Back to the "Monster Butt"
Oh wait!!! Got to post "Marks" fish first.
Met him down there before as he is one of the very hospitable
and knowledged old time locals there. He did not have a camera, so I
pic-ed his fish,here it is;

NOOOOWWWWW!!!! Back to the Halibut.
FIRST CAST-HOOK-UP!!!!
Heavy, Heavy Puller!!!! Nailed him only 10-25yds out!!!!
Three runs on the 8lb. and could feel him getting tired, but he weighed
so much, I was afraid he was going to break the line!!!!
Got him in 4inches of water and went for the grab !!!! I was stressin
out !!!! What if he does the old flip flop like the other ones have
done and shakes the lure!!!!:Rolls Eyes: SHOOT- MAN :???:..GRABBED HIM
OOOOHHHH, MAN !!! He slips out  Does a little tail move and gets
out there another 10ft. :Rolls Eyes: Decided to gently time the current while
lightly and slowly sliding him in. 4 inches of water AGAIN!!!!
after 10- minutes of carefully working with him !!! GRAB HIM!!! Again
AAAAUUUGGGHHH !!! Got -EM !!!! :Big Grin: 34inches on the dot !!!

Caught a bunch of shorts on the swimmies too, with a croaker and
a White Sea Bass thrown in !!!

Yeah, that wsb almost bummed my whole trip about the Halibutt, because
the wsb seemed a little sluggish goin back, as he just did not swim out
when we put him in !!!! Another guy came over and grabed him gently
and turned him into the current to get oxygen over his gills and after
about ten minutes he went swimmin back !!!! Mark said if his mouth was still moving and his fins were still standing up and not drooping down, he would make it !!! And he did :Big Grin:
The guy who nursed him back to health went on to catch three wsb !!!
Turned out for good after all !!!!

Dang fishep, I remember when we met each other you said you weren't a really serious halibut guy. I think you definitely are one now! Cracking 30in is an awesome accomplishment. Congratulations man!

Hope to run into you one of these days again.

Of course I know where that spot is... and I couldn't care less if it produces 40" fish on a daily basis... don't feel like rubbing elbows with every gunslinger with a rod & LC. :Rolls Eyes:

Yeah,:Rolls Eyes: Well, The guy who lives down there took the Pix, and I quess
in the hurry to get the pics we were not paying attention and I tried
but could not figure how to crop on photobucket .
Besides that if you go down there and find "Shoulder to shoulder "
fisherman, 90 + % will get skunked if they do not know when and or
how to fish it . They will also probably be paying the new $15.00
to get in.

Sorry about the revealing pic. tried to crop but could not :Rolls Eyes:
Like your signature says "Don't follow the crowd" you will get skunked
if you do not know when to fish it. The guy who lives there for 40
+ years took the pics in a hurry so I guess we were not paying attention.
Won't happen next time !!!

Nice going man. That's a big one.
Would take some skill to land no matter how you look at it.
A good fish that will not be easy to top. Enjoy that one for sure.

Can't lie and say I'm not jealous though. Haha. I think you got a whole bunch of people jealous about that one. lol Just a fish folks! Get out there and earn yours too.

Elbow to elbow is no fun though regardless of who knows how to fish what.
People that don't know how to fish are even harder to fish around as they cast over you all day. I started branching out from there last summer when this type of thing was going on. Seems not much has changed with the fighting and elbow to elbow..

I think most guys who hide their spots, myself included, do it because we know how fast the area will be destroyed once word gets out. Most guys don't do it for an ego trip or to brag, but to ensure that the place they put in the effort to find stays the way they want it to.

Fishep, glad you were the guy to pull that fish out of there. Congrats again, that's the catch of a lifetime.

No shame on me buddy!!!
Shame on you for falsely accusing me :Rolls Eyes:
I do not look for the affirmation, acceptance of men
through the fishing internet sites!!!
I made a stupid mistake, and did not know how to properly
(Crop or Edit) "Klocked" out of ALL!!! the people who were
sarcastic and negative and all the members who hit the post
on both sites is the ONLY ONE who did the right thing and cropped the
pics for me, and gave me instructions how to re-post it!!! and
I say and pray GOD BLESS HIM FOR IT!!!
